Update on CAISO EIM Expansion and Regionalization Efforts

Oct 10, 201911:00am PDT1 hour
An increasing number of western states are adopting ambitious renewable and clean energy mandates. To accommodate the required added 150GW of clean energy needed to fulfill these mandates western entities have looked to joining the energy imbalance market (EIM), a real-time energy wholesale market that automatically provides the lowest-cost electricity resources available and ensures grid reliability. There are currently 9 active participants with nearly a dozen more in the pending stage of joining. This webinar will provide an update on where EIM expansion currently stands and address the following questions:

- How many more entities are needed to benefit from regionalization?
- What additional features or processes can be added to EIM to strengthen its independence and benefits?
- Where does adding extended day-ahead market (EDAM) services currently stand?
- What are the benefits of EDAM services?
- How will market transactions in EDAM be regulated?
