Come Join Us in New York!

Now in its 5th chapter, Infocast's respected Canna EAST/WEST Series comes to New York City. As before, top state regulators compare notes both with each other, and with leading operators, testing labs, regional advocacy groups, standards-setting bodies and experts. Past Summits have featured dozens of senior regulators from many different states & major counties and cities. In addition to this audience, which cannot be found at any other expo or operator-centric event, this East Coast iteration will include a mini-exhibits area of regulatory and compliance consultants, analytics, testing, lab proficiency and certification providers, GMP consultants, and extraction, packaging and labelling solutions, which will complement the highly focused program.

Agenda

In 2018 Governor Cuomo authorized a 24 person expert commission, led by the Department of Health, from across all wings of New York state government to assess the viability of adult use legalization. At least one bill currently sits in the legislature. This panel will bring together leading legislators and health officials to talk about how the latest data and lessons learned can be incorporated into the legislation, and how some of the detailed implementation and funding of the adult use program might look.

The Massachussetts Recreational market kicked off in early December 2018, while Maine and Vermont have had similar market structures though comparatively smaller in scale. By ballot measure, Michigan just converted its regulatory framework from medical to adult use. Each state has unique approaches to licensing, public health policy, taxation, and other factors. This panel will bring together health commissioners and heads of Cannabis/Marijuana offices to compare notes both on their internal lessons learned and challenges, and also assess the successes and failures of the West Coast Adult Use states.

This panel will feature regulators from Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, Ohio and potentially states on the West Coast.

This panel will assemble cannabis operators active in East Coast states, to explore issues such as expanding regulatory frameworks, economic impacts of testing requirements, and corporate social responsibility

This panel will feature a debate on the different parameters of licensing programs, integrating what has been learned from existing medical and adult use programs elsewhere, and the data that has been collected so far on the relative successes or not of different state markets.

This panel surveys the latest advances in quality control and testing and standards development, assuring the quality of consumed product. Panelists will include leading testing labs, standards experts, and technical/lab/health representatives from state cannabis offices and health departments.

Choice of markets for brands in states with adult use – pros and cons – volume of sales vs. volume of unit product; tighter controls for medical – optional or will it become mandatory as states learn from each other and regs further evolve; panelists feature a mix of operators from different states, representing different roles in the supply chain – cultivator ' extraction ' infused ' dispensary; and medical advocacy groups.
