by: The Infocast Food Team

301 Inc, the venture capital arm of General Mills, just announced it has made an investment in cottage cheese maker Good Culture.  Good Culture is a startup that sells high-protein, low-sugar cottage cheese made without any gums or thickeners.  It’s currently available at Whole Foods and Sprouts Farmers Market.

301 Inc. invests in food startups looking to grow and seeks out startups that are competing in new categories. This category — high-protein, nutrient-dense snacks — is getting increasing attention from shoppers.   “We are thrilled to partner with Good Culture,” said John Haugen, vice president and general manager of 301 Inc., in a press release.

301 Inc. has also invested in other food makers, including Beyond Meat. Both John Haugen and Beyond Meat founder and CEO Ethan Brown will be speaking at Infocast’s Food 2.0 Summit — check out the agenda and speaker roster here.
