The MISO region has become a dynamic area for renewable development and other decarbonization activities. Driven by a slate of utility and public power RFPs, state and local clean energy goals, new legislation easing siting constraints, and the eagerness of both C&I and residential consumers for renewable energy, renewable development across MISO has also been turbocharged by the new IRA incentives in the region, which is well-supplied with energy communities and other adder-eligible sites.
However, taking maximum advantage of these significant opportunities requires a thorough grasp of MISO specific challenges. Without a deep understanding of MISO’s unique interconnection processes and procedures, getting through the queue can be both lengthy and costly, and subject to many uncertainties. Transmission expansion and upgrades in the region are vital to many projects, but acquiring the most up-to-date information on evolving topics such as where new lines will be built, when, and how the costs incurred will be shared, remains essential. While the IRA has made aspects of project financings in the region easier, detailed knowledge of how the new tax credits and adders are impacting today’s financings and project valuations, as well as understanding the current state of the tax equity/transfer markets, is critical for optimizing project development and finance. Learning industry best practices for coping with supply constraints and long wait times can make the difference in keeping a project on schedule or even feasible. Moreover, keeping up with today’s advances in community engagement can allow projects to move forward against the tide of anti-renewable misinformation, which is widespread across the region.
To provide the kind of deep dive you won’t find anywhere else into the special opportunities of MISO renewable development, the region’s particular challenges and the solutions being crafted by active professionals to meet them, Infocast is bringing together a remarkable group of policymakers, leading developers and financiers, technical experts, C&I customers and utility executives. They will provide their collective insights into the special issues and practices around the development and finance of utility scale wind and solar, storage, community solar, decarbonization and other projects in a specifically MISO context. There is no other event that will provide this type of focus and relevant expertise for this region. Please review our detailed agenda and reserve your place today!
