Regulators, utility leaders and key technology innovators meet to explore how to optimize smart grid investment to meet growing customer demands and operational needs.

Today’s aging grid does not have many of the capabilities needed to meet the expectations of “Amazon age” customers and manage the operational demands of a generation mix featuring increasing amounts of renewable power and BTM solar PV, storage and EVs. At the same time, the pace of technological advancement is outpacing the traditional regulatory cycle, while flat load growth is limiting a utility’s ability to explore all the technologies emerging to help manage an increasingly flexible two-way grid. No single utility can implement all of the available solutions but must be prepared to justify recommended investments to regulators concerned about the cost impacts on ratepayers.
Grid Modernization 2018 Summit will bring together regulators, utility leaders and key technology innovators to explore how to optimize grid investment to meet growing customer demands and operational needs.

Pre-Summit Workshop:
Attend the pre-summit workshop, State of the Art in Digitization, to get the latest information on the emerging tools and technologies that will support the two-way grid of the future. Learn from pioneering utilities, and leading technology and service providers where the state of the art lies today for energy blockchain, data analytics, software platforms and cybersecurity.

In addition, the State of the Art in Digitization workshop now features a personal tour of the award-winning Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) on the NREL campus, where much of the DOE’s cutting-edge research into where digitization is heading happens every day.
