The Community Choice Energy Summit | November 28 – 30, 2018
The summit is the place where the CCA community will gather to learn about new developments and share insights on the latest operational strategies and best practices. The Summit is a great opportunity to:

  • Stay abreast of the legislative and regulatory landscape
  • Track forward progress on CCA joint action
  • Share best practices and strategies for procurement and local renewable sourcing
  • Learn about the latest in data analytics and billing
  • Promote social equity and workforce diversity

Building on the momentum of the first two highly successful Summits, this edition will feature more content from active and emerging community choice aggregators and provide an in-depth examination of the full range of their plans, programs, and initiatives.

Speakers are being added regularly. Check back often for updates.

The CCA Innovation Workshop | November 28, 2018
This workshop opens with a look at the strategies and decision-making involved in creating a programs roadmap for community choice aggregators, followed by sessions on the latest in programs for the built environment and transportation. Rolling out innovative programs is an opportunity for the members of the CCA community to push their roles as change agents and to go beyond their green portfolios in achieving decarbonization and social equity. This workshop is designed to provide CCAs with inspiration and practical know-how – featuring the experience and key takeaways of CCAs as they lay out case studies of developed and pilot programs.

The California Energy Market and CCA Fundamentals Workshop | November 28, 2018
This workshop is a 101-style tutorial providing a basic understanding of the makeup of the California energy market and the key elements and requirements for creating and operating a CCA. The workshop will be interactive, so bring your questions.

And as a vertically-integrated utility, SMUD has experience and expertise in all facets of energy supply – from power generation to product and service delivery to customers and everything in between. It’s that experience that makes SMUD the perfect choice for CCAs.

In addition, our values are closely aligned with CCAs in supporting local decision making, product choice, affordable rates, greenhouse gas reduction, energy efficiency and a nonprofit, public power business model. Community Choice Partners

Community Choice Partners, Inc. provides strategic consulting and technical services to a diverse array of stakeholders active in the Community Choice Energy (CCE) industry. Clients have included operational CCE agencies, local governments and municipal utilities seeking to implement new CCE agencies, community stakeholders such as labor unions and social/ environmental justice nonprofits, and innovative energy companies evaluating the market.

As a recognized thought-leader in CCE agency design and operations, Community Choice Partners has helped to define the “CCE 2.0” and “CCE 3.0” maturity models as a roadmap to (1) evolve the operational models of individual CCE agencies while simultaneously (2) creating a joint-action “Super Agency” to provide a scalable “energy services platform” and expert staff coordination across all individual CCE agencies.

These CCE 2.0 & 3.0 maturity models — by integrating data management, machine learning and new business intelligence analytics, customizable retail products and customer engagement capabilities, Distributed Energy functions and energy portfolio risk optimization—are designed to lower energy costs, target and manage risk, increase operating efficiencies, maximize value creation for customers and remove barriers to continuous innovation as the CCE industry expands to serve a majority of California’s electricity load.
